man. when I was reading about the religion thing in an above thread I thought it sounded interesting. hearing that it follows the RL conservative "gays are icky" thing makes it way less interesting to me. :(

I don't think it's ever revealed that the Chantry has an official view on homosexuality unless I missed something

It doesn't view it as icky or wrong to my knowledge. It only becomes an issue when it interferes with continuing a noble line. Chantry though? I think they're just fine with it. Maker loves everyone except elves, dwarves, and those Qunari.

Yeah, there's no real evidence to suggest that the Chantry condemns homosexuality. The Divine as of DA:I (Divine = female pope) likes women, and it's possible in DA:I to make a canonically bisexual woman the next Divine. People complain about them as they'd complain about any religious leader, but their complaints have nothing to do with their sexualities.

It doesn't. The Chantry says not a word about homosexuality, and several characters who have positions of some influence in it are canonically queer. There are areas of the setting that are more or less tolerant of homosexuality, but the variance is along lines of national culture, not religion.

Homophobia being part of Chantry doctrine is incredibly popular fanon, but that's based on the expected attitudes of the RL Catholic church (on which the Chantry is partly thematically based) rather than what's actually canon for the game setting.
