It's regional to some degree, but ukes can actually be a pretty nasty stereotype. It makes coming out a lot harder when you think being gay means you have to be effeminate, to say nothing of folks who meet your boyfriend and ask which of you is the "girl." (Granted, OP isn't going out there and encouraging the uke stereotype, but the writer I just mentioned was't going out there and encouraging the mammy stereotype. It's just kind of "really?")

Fair enough - but the thing is that some gay/bi and even straight men ARE effeminate. And some of them are pretty much exclusively bottoms and/or sexually submissive. And there's nothing wrong with that. There's also nothing wrong with liking that.

Maybe the "uke" stereotype is one step too far, but honestly - I've more often seen the opposite, among both straight women and gay men - "oh noes, not me, I don't like that whole effeminate thing. I only date real men!"

Like I see how it's a problem if it reaches fetishistic forms - but in the end you like what you like, and honestly without knowing more about the OP we can't really know how she deals with it.

I guess it could be fetishistic, but I don't really see how? I mean, everyone has a list of things they want in a partner, even if they don't say it, they want someone who is skinny or who has features like that or who likes this sport and has sex that way. I've had vanilla sex with more masculine guys and it's a too bland for me... I couldn't sustain a relationship. I know what I like. And isn't sexual compatibility important? I'm a domme and into BDSM and I have no interest in dating vanilla guys or dominant guys.


Honestly I'm surprised so many people are weirded out by this.

I mean, would anyone be surprised if a guy said "I'm only into feminine women who are sexually submissive and enjoy these sex acts". Because I bet that's pretty common.
