I think part of it is always a) how popular the kink is and b) how popular the potential pairing is. Uncommon kink+rarepair will not get much reaction, no matter how good our writing style is.

I remember it being on the Wonderful World of Disney when I was little kid at the peak of my "Annie" phase, but I haven't watched it since then. The 1982 version was just so different to me that that's the one I fixated on. :/

I think the vast majority of people in the Internet age with an IQ of at least 75 and no severe mental or social disorders would hit at least 100. The society depicted is only functional in its current form because folks were born into it, and their life experiences were carefully limited. (Keep in mind that from what we see in season 1, the scores don't measure capacity to break the law, but capacity to understand the mindset of a lawbreaker. Just reading mystery novels could theoretically push you over the legal limit!)

Do fanartists really ASK for those things though? I mean I know some do, but many just post fanart and then let people reblog it if they like it (this is what I do, I never actually ask people to favorite or reblog.)

I don't think it's wrong for writers to want kudos or whathaveyou but I think BEGGING for those things or bitching about it when you don't get them tends to turn people off. And I think this goes for fanart as well.
