I'll have sex with them and if they aren't into it the relationship doesn't go anywhere and I end it. I wouldn't consider one or two dates to be "dating" per se. Though up until my current BF I pretty much only looked for people via dating sites. You can filter better that way.

As someone who read a lot of yaoi as a teenager, and don't feel the same as you, I'd agree with the other comments that say you probably already had some kind of preference for feminine, submissive pretty guys. (I do find some submissiveness in men a turn-on, but I always liked that and didn't get it from reading yaoi.)
