No, most yaoi fangirls seem to want to BE the uke. But there's nothing wrong with your tastes. You were probably attracted to yaoi because of them, not the other way around.

I always hear this, but I don't know if it's necessarily true? Lots of times the uke gets crushed on too, and girls who like yaoi seem to also like pretty boys.

Don't confuse people doting on their self-insert with attraction.

(Anonymous) 2015-01-16 11:54 pm (UTC)(link)
This is so stupid. I read a ton of BL and yuri but I can't stand characters similar to myself. It automatically makes the work a bore.

(Anonymous) 2015-01-17 02:45 am (UTC)(link)
It doesn't for me, and they don't have to be 100% similiar to me, but there's to be some common traits.

(Anonymous) 2015-01-16 06:00 am (UTC)(link)
I've always heard this, but I always liked yaoi/slash/etc. because I didn't have to identify with the uke, but with heterosexual romance, the woman always seems to have the "uke" role.

(Anonymous) 2015-01-16 06:01 am (UTC)(link)
For me you can even generalize beyond that. Whether or not the woman takes on the 'uke' role, the weight of gender expectations is there, whether they're subverted or fulfilled. In slash and femslash, they're mostly just gone

(Anonymous) 2015-01-16 06:42 am (UTC)(link)
Same.

(Anonymous) 2015-01-16 10:39 am (UTC)(link)
Eh, I never understood this reasoning. Most slash or yaoi fangirls want their favorite character to take dick because they're most attracted to that character and find it hot.

(Anonymous) 2015-01-16 03:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes. Sometimes favoritism comes with identification, but mostly... yeah.

(Anonymous) 2015-01-16 06:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Pretty much.

(Anonymous) 2015-01-16 08:23 pm (UTC)(link)
I understand that reasoning because it's 100% true for me.

SA

(Anonymous) 2015-01-17 02:44 am (UTC)(link)
To clarify: by "that reasoning" I mean identifying with the submissive.

(Anonymous) 2015-01-16 11:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Very accurate for me.

(Anonymous) 2015-01-17 01:41 am (UTC)(link)
Well, not THIS yaoi fangirl.

I'm starting to wonder if the OP had confessed to be a female sub due to yaoi influence, if then the OP would not have had as much crap thrown their way.

I wish I'd found people like you when I was 15 and really into yaoi/RP and -everyone- always wanted to be the uke.
