I'm disappointed in what she said, but I also think there's an interesting discussion to be had about race and how abrupt the change between angel and demon in the press becomes.

I don't think it's been abrupt at all. The allegations of Bill Cosby drugging and raping women have been public for almost a decade.

The seed was planted a long time ago and quite a few people have believed him to be a rapist for years now. It's just more blown up now

I think the change in the attitude the press has had towards him has been abrupt, in the sense that it went very quickly from no coverage of the allegations to extensive coverage of the allegations. It's not like those 10 years were spent with slowly increasing mainstream coverage of the allegations. They were around but not many people were aware of them and they weren't really talked about in media. And then all of a sudden that changed and everyone talked about them.

FWIW I don't think it has to do with race, I think it has everything to do with the way our technology and our society have changed over the last 10 years. But it has been a rather abrupt thing.

Fair enough. I think for people who weren't aware of the allegations, it probably did seem like Hannibal Buress had leaked something that people in the entertainment industry knew about but didn't ever talk about. But when I say "public," the kind of thing I mean is "one accuser talks to Matt Lauer on the Today show in 2005" and "People magazine does an article about the allegations in 2006."
