Your reaction to trauma isn't necessarily everyone else's though.

Just as you (validly) don't want people talking over you, neither should you be suggesting they don't mention their feelings just because certain things don't affect you.

I understand and agree with what you're saying and I'm not saying they can't or shouldn't talk about how certain things make them feel. But they're not just talking about how something makes them feel. They're telling me how I should feel about it too and I'm the worst trashgarbage if I don't feel that way. That's where my issue lies. I'm not forcing my ships or my views on anyone. All I'm asking for is the same courtesy.

I've been told once that I was "a bad survivor" for a pairing I liked. It's dumb, but I still struggle with how to feel about that.

Not OP: They can have their own opinion, but just like hardcore conservatives, they can go ahead and have it somewhere else. Get out of my face with it. Some anon telling me I'm wrong to feel the way I feel when I was abused and they weren't and they can *never* understand what it's like isn't going to change my writing, so why bother? Your opinion isn't invalid, I just don't give a shit about it. It's like 15 year old SJWs on Tumblr who think they know what's best even though they don't have a damned clue about how the real world works because they've never actually been out in it. STFU and talk to me when you're eating noodles flavored with ketchup packets you got from McDonalds.

What if your experience (or mine, as the case may be) is that other abuse survivors hate on you because you mention that a ship dynamic, right down to the actual canon actions, reminds you of your abusive relationship and that's why you can never ship it? Not telling others not to ship it, just answering a "why don't you ship X/Y?" comment as well as I could without telling a bunch of strangers about things they have no business knowing. I was basically told I wasn't allowed to be affected by it, just because the people disagreeing with me saw it differently.

It's not just people who haven't experienced it that seem to want to tell others that their experience is somehow less valid than theirs just because it doesn't happen to upset them in the way it does you.
