Kill ~800,000,000 people, with the selection being weighted towards the areas of the world that are particularly wealthy, technologically advanced, and / or densely populated.

Kill the same amount, except I'd get rid of the more violent part of humanity. Violent criminals, street gangs, terrorists, domestic abusers etc. Most humans can already live in peace, if it wasn't for the violent minority that makes other people's lives miserable. After that, I'd make certain that anyone who displays any violent tendencies would receive regular therapy and supervision.
