Me too, OP. It really bothers me. Although not mainly because of any consent issues (although it is part of it).. but just because I can't buy the romance of the pairing that way.

They hate each other... (or they're good friends).. they fall into bed drunkenly.. they wake up and remember..... ooo they see each other in a different way now.. instant love!

I just can't believe in a romance that starts like that? I guess. If it happens in a fic I nope out. (Unless it's crack)

If it happens in a movie, I continue while rolling my eyes. If it happens in a tv show? I care less because I hardly ship the canon pairings.

What about the fics where they already like each other and kinda flirts and just need the extra push to get things going?

It depends on the execution then! I'd give it a try if that was the case.

But yeah my problem with it is "lust = love"... like: "i hate him, but he's so hot..." "drunken sex" "wow i guess i love him"..

but I guess that's poor writing rather than the trope itself.
