What's the fandom, OP?

btw, I feel that most fandoms'd benefit from having more genfic. I'm trying to think of any fandoms predominated by porn... ST TNG, Professionals (it's a UK version of Starsky and Hutch, so I guess S&H is the same), SPN, Sherlock, Master and Commander...

If you take a look at the various figures cited above, most fandoms actually do have more Gen fic than they do porn.

It's just that more people are clicking and commenting on the porn.

I consider gen to be non-shippy. Gen can be mature or explicit(torture, etc), so I admit I'm confused about Ratings|Porn-ness correlation.

I love AO3 statistics. I've seen a tumblr with AO3 stats, they had pretty graphs and all.

A lot of people have an illogical disparity between how explicit they'd rate e.g. violence vs how they'd rate sex, though, so I'm inclined to believe that most fics marked as mature or explicit are done so because of the porn content rather than anything else.

There are fics in my fandom that don't warn for the violence at all, perhaps because people think it's a no-brainer given the canon and the characters involved, but they'll go out of their way to warn for every specific kink or sexual content.

Huh, I can't even remember warnings people use in my fandoms. Deathfic and non-con, that's the only universal things for all authors to warn for.
Upd. Ratings're all over the place too.

I thought the Avengers had less gen, tbh. It's all shippy on AO3 everytime I look. I'll have to take a look upthread, see if there's any more stats.)

Avengers (movieverse) stats on AO3:

Teen And Up Audiences (16382)
General Audiences (12570)
Explicit (7111)
Mature (6963)
Not Rated (4232)

12.5K in G and 24K in everything else. Hmm...

DA

Is this the Tumblr you meant?

Because according to those stats, Gen is still the second biggest category after slash. So that's a pretty big chunk of those Gen-rated fics.

Turns out it's indeed in my web history!

to be precise.

The Gen-as-a-rating in comparison to the Gen-as-a-genre distinction seems to throw up similar numbers.

Most popular Gen tagged fic on the site (regardless of rating)

Gen in this case meaning non-shippy, not General Audiences, although there's bound to be some overlap.

I think we can conclude that shippy fic except for f/f is more popular than gen.
On a different note, 36,222..? It's more than Rationality on FFn, which has 10.000+ reviews.
