Yeah, in particular I will never understand when the drunken hook-up is presented as being sexy and not gross (Hi there, authors of at least three separate-but-equally-terrible smutty fanfics I had the misfortune of stumbling on this month alone!!!). It wouldn't necessarily put me off a ship altogether, but I can see how you'd feel that way, OP.

If one person is drunk and the other is sober, now THAT is really off-putting. Not only for the potential consent issues, but - hey, authors, haven't you noticed that drunk people tend to be kind of gross? I mean it's the kind of thing someone who is ALSO drunk might overlook, but: reeking of alcohol, being poorly co-ordinated and/or incoherent - these things are not exactly attractive! (Sure, not everyone gets drunk in the same way, but being in a state of drunkenness is a downgrade from sobriety for 99% of people.)

Not to mention it's usually a downright lazy way to have people get together. I mean it COULD be handled well and actually used to deepen a relationship, as the couple work on getting over the awkwardness of it and whatnot, it just usually... isn't.
