You have the option of telling iTunes not to search for music on your computer when you run it for the first time, OP. Just be cognizant of what dialogue boxes you're okaying.

Exactly.

And you can buy a ringtone and it doesn't interfere with any of your other music - it's a different extension and it's under ringtones. You don't have to do anything with your other music in iTunes if you don't want to. I don't use the Podcasts app and everything is fine. I store all the songvids I have in iTunes and use another app to play them via iPad.
