In LOTR, it does say that Eomer and Aragorn ended up always fighting their fights together after the War of the Ring and being really chummy. But it also makes it seem that Eomer looked to Aragorn as a leader. Eomer is king but he does pledge his loyalty to Aragorn in some way.

So, a little bow to Aragorn makes sense.
