I agree. I view them as pale. The same with a lot of European creatures (fairies, elves, etc.). Any time I see stories with Tolkien Elves who are not pale, it usually feels like it's about representation only. I don't feel like Elves (or Dwarves or Ents) should be viewed as humans, meaning that the usual diversity is not necessary. The monolith race doesn't bother me with fairy creatures.

I do think drows (is that the name?) are interesting, though I've never been in a fandom that had them.

I just looked it up.

Trow is the name for the Scottish mythological creatures. Drow is the dark elf character in games.

Thanks for introducing me to a new thing.

I was going for Drows (the ones with white hair and black/blue skin). I like the contrast but I've never played them so I don't know what kind of creature they are.

I've never heard of Trows so now I know something new too. :)

Drow are a Dungeons and Dragons version of dark elves. Go with the standard D&D elf, add some night-vision (because they are a subterranean race) and a whole pile of evil matriarchal culture and a love of spiders (because their primary goddess has a spider theme). That's the basics of Drow.

Sidthe are also like elves, aren't they? I guess they're Celtic?

I haven't read/seen too much with them but I generally view them as pale too.

Sidhe just means fairy in Irish, or person of the burial mounds, where they were traditionally supposed to live.

As in bean sidhe = woman of the fairies - banshee.

I always found it hilarious that Banshee in X-Men was a dude since his name literally means fairy woman.

that is fantastic
