[Twisted Toyfare]

Ah, TTF... it started out so good (my all-time favorite is where they ended up in the Smurf village. I was so mad they had to remove Azrael from the reprints b/c of DC, because it killed a hilarious visual joke), but then as it became more and more neckbeard soapbox-y, I stopped reading altogether (but that was also around the time my father and I stopped collecting action figures because the hobby was getting way too pricey for us. I think Toyfare folded not long after that). Then I found out most of them moved on to Robot Chicken, which would explain why I found it unfunny 3/4ths of the time.

But yeah, their version of Doom is pretty much the only way I can "see"/hear the character, for better or for worse. (Same with their sardonic Spider-Man, idiot*Thor, and perpetually drunken-and-vomiting*Iron Man) I still crack up every time I remember this one panel where he punched Franklin Richards in the stomach while yelling 'JUMANJI!' for some reason... . Good times.

Drunken and vomiting Iron Man sounds pretty funny. ;)

Text: For the longerst time, I couldn’t figure out why I wasn’t getting Dr. Doom’s voice right whenever I wrote Marvel fic.

Then I realized that I’d been subconsciously basing my Doom on THIS version:

…I honestly don’t know if that makes things better or worse.

I know nothing about this comic, but I still think that's a great idea.

Then again, my only exposure to Doom was the Fantastic Four movies.

Doom in the comics is a bit different, but really depends on the writer.

OMG me too! TTT is my fave version of Spidey as well.

"I WILL LAUNCH THAT ITEM OF THE FANTASTIC FOUR'S INTO SPACE!"

"...words fail Doom"

I think my favorite Doom moment was when Doom got into a fight with his action figure counterpart ("Bah infinity!" "Bah infinity plus one!"), and then the action figure got squished by one of the many Baxter Buildings Doom had fired into orbit. Then Doom got squished by another Baxter building. I almost felt sorry for him when I wasn't cackling like a madwoman.

"Doom tires of launching the Baxter Building into space..."
