What's Tumblr actually like? I know it best from how Know Your Meme treats it (as Satan incarnate, if Satan were a soulbonder who used the pronoun "faeself.")

It sort of depends what you use it for. I feel it's great for sharing pictures, art or gifs - but pretty shitty for anything else. It's also one of the easiest places to get spoiled because the "tagging" system is optional.

And es, lots of SJW's. Even if you only follow fandom blog, the still end up on our dashboard.

"follow fandom blogs"

that's problem. fandom's made up of obsessive, emotionally stunted people who often can't critically think. you'll have much better luck with themed blogs like food, animals, or photography. my tumblr experience has been much more pleasant since i made the switch and completely devoid of sjw bullshit

The point is I'm mostly there for the fan art. I like photograph, too - but have no real interest in food blog, and I can go to better places for cute animals.

I never understood why people find soulbonders and weird pronouns so reprehensible. Maybe because I've known plenty of both who are really nice practical people? I dunno.

I feel kinda weird about being on tumblr too, and that's because it is a waterfall of stuff. Stand under it long enough and cool shit will invariably come, but good luck EVER finding it again or hanging onto it for long, never mind responding.

a few of the weird pronoun folk are trolls with a gullible army of pasties. their pronouns are a lure to bring in victims.

Well yeah, but that describes just about any group on the Internet, like a bunch of those guys who were using stock photos to pretend to be WOC on Twitter. Trolls are everywhere you go.

From what you've said before, you have personal experience with why people get het up about soulbonders. Someone like Andy Blake claims he's channeling a spirit, and he gets other people around him and gets them thinking they're doing the same, and then he uses that to manipulate them for money and sex. (Apparently, KYM's prescribed solution to cult-related abuse is to make fun of people on the Internet. That's its solution to most problems, granted . . .)

For most of the rest of the folks KYM picks on, it all sums up to http://knowyourmeme.com/photos/432790-otherkin + http://knowyourmeme.com/photos/891520-otherkin. For the former case, note how completely out of proportion the comments are compared to the original post. Some people get really, really worked up when they think someone is "faking" and "doing it for attention."

*rubs temples* This is very very true. I hate folks like Andy Blake for making my life and education work harder than it needs to be. STOP RUINING SHIT FOR US.

That said, there are also plenty of "sane" people who start cults, and they don't all get painted as cult leaders. It's mostly just frustrating for me, because it can directly impact my quality of life.

Some people get really, really worked up when they think someone is "faking" and "doing it for attention."

Yeah, and I've gotten burned for that a few times. It's why I kinda try to be as boring as possible in my batshittery, these days.

Though the second link annoys me because it's WRONG! I've known plenty of soulbonders with NPC and Random Hench #3 members! Or members who just try to avoid ever saying who they are because they're either mortified of it or don't want to deal with the shit. If all Sephiroth ever does is watch Discovery Channel and do the dishes, nobody has to know.
