I'm sort of the same. He used to be my favorite companion from DA:O, but now he's not even close.

Depending on how you play the Warden, the extent of Alistair's self-centered behavior really shines. All of the Origins companions are (to account for different player backgrounds), but with the others it's kind of understandable. They either don't give a fuck about your background or do care but the middle of a blight isn't the time and place for crying about it.

One of Alistair's most memorable dialogue bits for me is the one where he's talking about the Wardens and then asks if you've ever lost someone. "Why yes, Alistair, I guess you forgot how my entire family was recently murdered."

My main Warden was supposed to be a teenager who's leadership experience consists of teaching Barkspawn to sit. His family is dead, the Wardens are dead, and senior Warden Alistair is putting everything on Cousland's shoulders because Alistair doesn't know what to do? And if you fuck things up he gets pissed off? Bullshit.
