Re: What do you consider Popular?

I don't think it's impossible. There's no need for a breakdown. Popular can mean different things to different people. If you don't have any interest, then there's no reason to hang around this thread.

But unless it's relevance is tied to a particular fandom, then how does knowing that Fandom A considers 5000 hits, 2500 Kudos and 400 comments as popular, while Fandom B considers 4500, 2000, and 300 and popular mean anything whatsoever?

Popularity is relative.

Unless you want to throw out the names of certain fandoms because you want some kind of comparison, then you really are asking for the impossible. Or at least far more statistical analysis than anyone on F!S gives a crap about.

If you're that interested, then go to AO3, go to FFnet. Fandom by fandom, filter out the most popular fics. Compare those figures. Voila.

Maybe I'm only interested in the fandoms of the people here on F!S. You're way too hung up on the statistics of this question. Chill, bro.

Then please explain to me what else

"how many kudos/hits/comments would make you think a fic is popular in your fandom?"

is BUT asking for statistics? You're asking for numbers that qualify and quantify an arbitrary standard. How ELSE does someone answer you question, then, without stats like "X kudos, Y hits, z comments"?

Those are just examples. I didn't think I had to list absolutely every possible thing. People always seem able to answer using whatever speaks to them in a thread.

If they think it's all about numbers and that's not their thing, they scroll past.

You're way too hung up on this. Maybe you should step back from your computer to calm down.

Or maybe you should stop being a patronizing dick who thinks that people are going to do what they say just because they say so.

Maybe you should step back until you can behave like a grown up. I'm gonna guess that'll take a while.

LOL!

You're hilarious, man. You really had me. For a moment, I was taking you seriously. Good one!
