Actually, your description makes the book seem like something I might be interested in reading. If nothing else, from a technique point of view.

I would recommend it! It's really interesting, because...well, without giving away spoilers, the first half of the book is very different from the second half. And I, personally, think Flynn succeeded in creating a character that was interesting and that I genuinely liked, sort of. Someone I would of course never want to interact with in the real world.

It really is a fascinating book, and a fascinating movie. I find the movie has a more solid but simple story than the book, which is good and bad in its own way. Very good adaptation though, and written by the original author too which you don't see often.
