they absolutely do want dumb people on jury duty, or it'd be more accurate to say they don't want smart people. they kicked off every person who'd been to law school when I went (about 3 people), even those people who said aloud they were committed to unbiased decision-making. they were a little -too- educated for their tastes.

No, that makes sense to me. Juries aren't supposed to decide questions of law. They're supposed to take the judge's word regarding what the law says and follow his instructions, and if there's a reasonable chance that they can't do that, they probably should be removed.

And moreover I think that system actually kinda makes sense? IDK
