There's still a lot of SMC stans who freak out at even the slightest critique of the show, and who will bitch about nostalgia goggles if you dare say that the 90s anime was better.

(I personally think the stans are the ones with the nostalgia goggles, myself. They've elevated the manga to such heights in their mind that any adaptation of it is literally flawless.)
