It's 20 years older than Crystal, dating from a time before Toei used handy computer tools to help the process along, and still manages to be more on-model, more fluid, more dynamic in color range and lighting, and more consistently detailed. The 90s anime actually had some pretty fantastic animation for it's time, especially considering the lack of budget and Toei's track record of cheaply-produced schlock.

(Anonymous) 2015-01-22 12:14 pm (UTC)(link)The computer tools are used for coloring or digital effects, but they aren't used in actual animation (I'm talking about the main characters and so of course, cars, mecha or things like that usually are CG).
