I enjoyed it, but didn't think it was award winning amazing, which is it's own class.

On the other hand, I also ended up annoyed at HTTYD2 after loving the first one, so there's that. I guess that means that OP and the people OP are talking about would both hate my opinions, but oh well.

HTTYD2 was such a bloated mess after the beautiful simplicity of the first one :\ I was disappointed too

Same here. I loved the first HTTYD and thought it was cute, but the sequel just came off as being tryhard compared to it. It felt like they were trying to emotionally manipulate you rather than having the genuine feeling of the first one.
