Considering that RTD was just as guilty of the companion in love with the Doctor thing (possibly even more so), it amuses me the wording of this secret.

Whuuuut?

OP here

Yeah, but he did it for the first time, at least that it was somewhat reciprocated. It wasn't so much a thing in Classic Who. It was interesting to see...once. Not for every companion from then on.

I'll give you Rose. There is still Martha and Jack, though, which makes him even with Moffat.

I will always love Martha and Jack. I always felt like somewhere between UNIT and Torchwood, they had a fling for a while. Nothing too long, but something intense and happy with moments of bittersweet regret, that started and ended in a friendship. SIGH. Casualties of the Doctor I suppose.

I love them all. Every single companion. My point was merely that the OP was making it seem like Moffat is the only one who does the companion with feelings for the Doctor thing when in fact they both did it equally.

Ah, yeah. I definitely see that. I was just sharing and basking in the Martha and Jack love (nothing productive to add to the conversation).

Martha had an unrequited crush which I didn't mind at all, because it was new and Jack, he loved the Doctor but it was never a big issues... whereas Amy and River were so over the top with it. It gets boring after a while and it just felt like Moffat was trying to out-write RTD and... well, failed bad.

It wasn't just Somewhat Reciprocated, Rose got her own goddamn Doctor to keep her happy 5ever while Mickey came across as possessive. Mickey and Rose never even officially broke up that I remember?

And then Martha and Jack, both RTD Companions, fell hard for the Doctor.

Mickey ends up with Martha tho...so it's not all bad. Martha was a boss all on her own, so even Mickey technically gets a Doctor too! lol.

RTD is the worst offender in that sense, I agree.

Don't agree. There was love, unrequited crush and Jack's silent/unrequited love but after that it got boring. The random one of companions and Amy and River were so bad.
