One of them has started coming through, according to the x-rays the dentist took, and the second one is close. (The third one is still by the roots of the teeth it's next to, so the chance of it ever coming out is like, 00.0% according to the dentist, thank goodness!)

Yeah, he can't, he can only numb it. They did say that, if we have to do it like that, I could bring my iPod with me, and listen to it during the whole thing, but with things going on inside my jaw, I don't know how good of a distraction that would be. |D

That could make it at least a little more bearable, but still...ugh!

In any case, good luck, man. And hopefully it'll go nice and easy so that you can still enjoy some of your break (I got mine out before they'd completely come through, and I was able to go back to school after only a day. My cheeks were a little swollen, but there wasn't really any pain).

Yeah, I'm really crossing my fingers. |D

Thanks. :) Mostly I'm worried because my roommate keeps telling me horror stories about when her wisdom teeth were pulled, so hearing some less-scary stories is really helpful. ^^;

Any chance of seeing an oral surgeon? Most of them will put you under.

I honestly don't know yet; it's my Mum's insurance, and I haven't been able to get a hold of her, but I'm hoping! It would definitely cover the dentist removing it, though, but I'm really hoping. |D

I would recommend asking your dentist for a couple of referrals. My husband is a dentist and refers out all third-molar extractions because they're challenging for both the patient and the dentist. Check with your mum's insurance company and see what they'll cover. It's definitely easier to bear knowing you won't be awake for it (total coward here).

Follow the post-op instructions. I can't stress that enough. I had a wisdom tooth out a couple of years ago and it wasn't as bad as I was expecting, and after 30 years of horror stories I was expecting every complication known to man. My daughter had all of hers out, plus a bone graft, and she ate soft solids for about a week and had a lovely velcro ice-holder thingie which worked a treat. Even after all that, she said it wasn't all that painful, but she sure wanted something crunchy to eat.

Last word of advice: NO STRAWS! Seriously. It screws things up big time.

I'll look into that; the dentist did say that he had some he could send me to, both in the city I'm in right now, and in my hometown (I'm a college student, so...) if the insurance will cover them. :)

I will; I really don't want to get dry socket. D: And no straws, got it, thanks! <3
