Oh, nice! The doctor did suggest coming in on a Thursday, and skipping class on that day + Friday, but unfortunately my most important classes are M/W/F, so that's not going to happen. :(

I'll try the ice thing; do you mean you literally just had ice on your face the whole time? Or like, an ice pad, or something?

I'll try that; I was really hoping to go to the beach to see if I could spot any whales during their migration, but maybe I'll be able to on that last weekend still. :3

I had ice wrapped in a wash cloth on my cheeks most of the first day when I wasn't too drugged up. I think I'd keep it on until it melted, waited 30 minutes or until my cheeks warmed up, and then put more ice on. They gave me percocet which was amazing. I think I was supposed to take it every 4-6 hours (I don't remember the exact dose now) but as soon as I could, I took a second one before I would have any pain in the beginning.

A friend had told me to drink orange juice the day before because it's supposed to help with the swelling. I did this and had no swelling, but I'm not sure if it's old wives' tale or not.

I'll try these things, thank you! Hell, even the orange juice, I mean, what can it hurt? |D

I clapped ice packs to my jaw. I didn't have it as bad as some people I knew, but I needed to have cloves packed into my sockets, due to nerve pain. The ice DEFINITELY helped thought! I just used a big plastic brick that I used in my lunchbox.

Yeah, looks like I'll need to stock up on ice packs. ^^; I've never heard of the clove trick, that's definitely interesting!

Thanks for the tips! :D

Well, I wouldn't try doing the cloves thing yourself! That's something my doctor did later, when my Rx painkillers and ice packs weren't working. I didn't realize it was cloves until later, just found that if I moved my jaw in a certain way, the flavor was OVERPOWERING.

It was kinda interesting to learn that even after all these years, sometimes old remedies still work. The cloves did the job, though!

I'll ask my doctor about that if I need to then, thanks for the heads-up! :D

FYI, the rule for ice packs is that it's okay to use them for long periods of time, HOWEVER, you need to use them in cycles: ten minutes on, ten minutes off, etc. etc. You don't want to leave ice on your face for too long because it can actually damage tissues and slow the healing process.

...I knew that. Once upon a time, I think. Thanks for the reminder!
