I like the actress but I could not for the life of me get into Keller. But I also felt like Atlantis was starting it's general decline when she was introduced.

I never liked Keller but I loved Elizabeth. I got really mad when they just threw her under the bus and got rid of her. Show never felt the same after.

I don't get Elizabeth hate at all. Elizabeth was amazing.

I never hated Elizabeth, but I was pretty ambivalent towards her in the beginning.

It was because I really like Jessica Steen, who was the Elizabeth they introduced in Stargate SG-1. I know it wasn't the Torri Higginson's fault, but I was disappointed and not sure how the cast change would work out.

Same. I'd understand if people didn't like Keller as much as Carson (though I preferred Keller, tbh, even though I liked them both) but I didn't get why people hated her as much as they did. And I never got the Elizabeth hate. Then again, she was my favorite so it's unlikely I'd understand why people disliked her.

I was not Keller's biggest fan, but agreed on the Elizabeth hate. Even after all this time, she is still one of the few characters I am super defensive about.

I loved Elizabeth (and hated they got rid of her) and thought Keller was boring and the Keller/Rodney thing was beyond unnecessary. There was so much more chemistry with Ronon and her.

I love Jennifer. She's great at her job. She was a young, awkward genius just like Rodney, and says the adorably wrong thing all the time just like him ("mess with your insides") so I dunno why people don't like her.

She was never a threat to McShep, because Rodney (or at least DHew) never looks at her in a sexual way. The writers tried to write it but the actors never played it. It's kind of sad.

She had terrific chemistry with Ronon. They were adorbs together in Quarantine.

Yea, if Keller had to be paired with someone, I would've wanted it to be Ronon. (Since the show never bothered to give me Teyla/Ronon either.) They were super cute in that episode.

So much this! I shipped her and Ronon like burning after quarantine and then the writers fucked it all up.

I don't hate Keller at all, it's just that putting her with McKay breaks 2 of my ships at the same time and that sucks :(

I love Keller, but I did not care for Keller/McKay for the exact reason you mention. I can sort of understand why the writers would want to pair them up because they do have a lot in common, but once they saw that the actors didn't have that kind of romantic/sexual chemistry, they should've dropped it and gone back to Ronon/Keller.

I love McShep, I like Keller, I just didn't like Keller and Rodney together. (They didn't mesh for me at all, and seemed ill-suited for each other. I actually thought Rodney and Katie were adorable while they lasted, though I was not surprised they didn't work out.)

Jewel is cool and I wanted it to work out, but she never felt like part of the team to me.

I didn't like her because of a romantic subplot. And after Elizabeth died and Teyla had a baby there was a dearth of gen oriented female characters.

I'll do you one better, OP. I not only liked Keller, I shipped Keller/McKay. First got interested in the pairing in "Trio" (the episode where they got trapped in the underground cavern with Carter) and stuck with it to the end.

Keller is awesome. Rodney/Keller is awesome, and I say this as someone who writes and reads a lot of McShep.

Most of the objections to Keller and Rodney/Keller don't make any logical sense and boil down to female character getting in the way of the noncanonical slash ship.

My feelings on both Keller and McKeller have always been complicated. I think most of my frustration about Keller came from how it seemed like the fandom drew up battle lines over her, and it felt like you had to either hate her or love her, and there was no room for a middle position.

I think there were some real problems with the character. She was an acknowledged writers' pet. She got too much attention at the expense of other characters not named Rodney. And there was far too many Jennifer In Peril episodes proportional to her time on the show. On the other hand, there were times when she was good. I thought Tracker, for example, was probably the best episode in the series for her (not talking about Rodney and Ronon).

As far as McKeller goes, I preferred it to Ronon/Keller. But it was very badly written at times - Brainstorm for example. And I'm not sure dropping Ronon/Keller was entirely the writers' idea. Jason Momoa is on record as not caring for the ship - he said something about not thinking Ronon would be with someone like Keller.
