Get new friends then, because that is absolutely a universal thing and they're kind of stupid if they actually believe it's a POWER OVER WOMEN thing.

I think it's more a case of them thinking is like men don't see or acknowledge women as people so they don't feel the need to move, rather than a conscious display of power over women.

FYI I don't totallt agree with either possibility.
