When I was in high school, anime was perfect. Now, most shows are still set in high school, and I'm waaay too old to be crushing on cartoon teenagers.

Which makes it awkward to want to be in fandom, or enjoy the awesome slashy fanservice that is Free.

It's not like you have to "come out" as a 30-something mother/father of two or whatever. Anonymity is the joy that is the internet.

it's not really about other people knowing my age, it's me knowing my age. I feel gross as the thought of sexualizing a teenager, especially one under 18. Especially one that looks like s/he's prepubescent, even if the anime says they are sixteen or whatever.
