I've seen plenty of women go on about how "creepy" they feel about people being attracted to young men. And calling men in their twenties "not fully grown" and so on. Like its pedo-ish to be attracted to any man younger than 35 or so.

When I was in high school, anime was perfect. Now, most shows are still set in high school, and I'm waaay too old to be crushing on cartoon teenagers.

Which makes it awkward to want to be in fandom, or enjoy the awesome slashy fanservice that is Free.

I think with me it's that it just sort of...doesn't change. Like I fangirled over guys who are 20-30-ish when I was 12, and I still do now. So now I've basically moved into the phase where a lot of those guys are younger (not b much, but I'm sure that a matter of time).

I'm pretty convinced I'll still like that age group when I'm 40 or 50. Hell, a lot of guys my age already don't do it for me. Not so much because they are unattractive per se, but because they are in completely different worlds than I am.

I think it's weird for women, too, to like younger men (societally) If you're a straight guy it's sort of expected, but as a woman you're a "cougar" even if he's just 8 years younger or whatever.

I checked my userpics and there's a ton of characters near my age or older. There's also a fair amount of characters younger than me. (Some of which I find totally dreamy.)

What an interesting secret! Can't help who you're attracted to, and I'm glad you're a responsible person who would never go after someone underage. Maybe you have a type and younger characters can sometimes fit it better, on shows? Like, playful and pretty or something?

High school anime make it tough - the whole high school scenario is one that I think we want to relate with, and the characters are anime, so it's hard to tell how "old" they actually are. I don't think it's weird to have crushes on fictional teenage characters, in fact, it's probably better if they are anime and therefore it's not a real kid. Though in high school TV shows, the actors are usually adults, too, so even then.

Ezra Miller. My crush. He's 22 at the moment but hell, felt odd when he had been 17 (above age of consent but um ...). I don't even get along with lots of younger guys, feel you anon!

Same boat, since I'm almost a 28 yr old bi guy and doesn't help I read every yaoi and bara imaginable that takes place in high school. Definitely not judging at all.

Take "Kuroko no Basuke" for example, in which all the guys looks like college students, but they're around 16/17 (I swear, they're drawn older and I joke about it, albeit very lame jokes at that). "Haikyuu!!" also has this issue (mainly with Sawamura Daichi, Azumane Asahi, Ukai Keishin and Tetsurou Kuroo being examples of this).

Then, there's Yamazaki Sousuke, Tachibana Makoto and Mikoshiba Seijuurou from "Free!", Shin Seijuurou and Takekura Gen from "Eyeshield 21" and the guys from "Prince of Tennis" (in this case: Ootori Choutarou, Shishido Ryou, Kawamura Takashi and Kaidou Kaoru)...

I think if I said "every Sports Anime ever", that'll fit the bill.

Man, I never felt so grateful that my little brother basically ruined younger white guys for me forever. (He looks like every white twink in gay porn ever. Considering how gay porn tends to run, it induces a mega buzzkill.) I never really have to worry about this problem, praise be.

Haha yeah, I can relate to that. Specially with anime characters since most of the irl guys I like are around my age or older (ty Chris Evans for being a bit older than me). It's double troubling because now (anime) fandoms are filled with younger people who will call you on it and think you're a creep, even if you wouldn't go for someone younger like you said irl. Good thing the Free guys don't really look much like highschoolers.

Yeah, I kind of have this problem with Ed in FMA. Not in the first anime, or at the beginning of Brotherhood. But towards the end of Brotherhood, when he's still 16? Yeah, I kind of find him hot.

Well, considering fictional characters generally don't age, it always ends up like that anyway. For me, at least. You can be the same age as them or younger when you first know about them but give it 10 years and you're suddenly a creep for having pictures of them.

Thankfully my favourite childhood character is 21, so even though he's younger than me now it doesn't look too bad.
