I'd pay off my student loans, pay off my two best friends student loans then I'd buy a modest house somewhere nice and get like a cat and a dog then probably sit on the rest of it as a pension and maybe buy some clothes or other things I like every now and then. I'd certainly try to save it up for the most part.

OP Your dream sounds much like mine. Especially a cat or a dog, and somewhere nice and comfortable to live. :) Simple things.

Back when I was a teenager I might have gone with 'I need the biggest mansion in the world' line of thinking(I watched a lot of Cribz). But these days, nah, I just want somewhere that's not pokey little hole in the wall and to be able to give a few animals a home with me. :)

The housing market in my area is insane (thanks to a military base nearby) and the only way I'll ever afford a nice house is by coming into money somehow. As it is, I'll sell my crappy house and move to a nice house in Florida or something when I retire.

I feel you on house-prices. |They're insane in my area too and even if I miraculously came into some money I'd probably still have to look out-of-area in order to find somewhere half-decent.
