I know how you feel OP. I've had a similar experience with that and it also didn't end well. My experience was that I was just close with one person and not the 3rd member but those two were really close with each other so I just felt like the third wheel with a stranger in the bedroom.

For me I'd have to be really close with both people and attracted to them, but to find that and have them also willing to do it seems rare.

Interesting. I haven't found a formula for what works for me. My most successful threesomes were:

- I was the stranger with two guys who were best friends (but not into each other)
- the other woman and I were acquaintances (though attracted to each other) and we were both friends and previous individual hook-ups with the guy
- me and my best female friend and her close female friend who was my acquaintance

Really close with both people is something I never did.

I imagine if I ever had a threesome, I couldn't be emotionally into either of the others. Emotions, for me, make everything tangled and complicated.
