Re: Names and Identity

I'm the opposite. My name is Rhiannon and I very, very rarely meet anyone named Rhiannon. When I have, it was always just people I met briefly and in passing and never saw again, so in my mind, it's not really a name that other people have.

I always used to get people asking me if I was named after the Fleetwood Mac song. My parents insist I wasn't, but people tended to refuse to believe me when I told them this and I found it all very annoying. Now I'd love to go back to these days, because everyone is framiliar with the singer Rihanna and will insist on pronouncing my name the same way - dropping the last "n" and even putting a "h" sound in after the "Ri" - even when they see it written out in front of them and it's considerably more annoying than "Your parents are Fleetwood Mac fans, LOL" ever was. It's not even the same name really and even if it were, I'm older than Rihanna and I had the name first, so :p

"Rhiannon" is also the correct Welsh spelling, unlike all the Rhianna/Rihanna variants, so go your parents!
