Wouldn't that make the problem worse, though? People already think of rapists as something other than human, which is why they find it so difficult to believe that people they know-- human people who come from good Christian families, etc. etc.!-- could possibly be rapists. Because everyone knows rapists are monsters, not college boys who fingerbang a drunk girl when she's passed out and can't consent.

Precisely. The "rapists are inhuman monsters" meme is a very big part of how rape culture perpetuates itself.

Nobody ever says "Rape is just fine", they always say "That wasn't really rape" or "He couldn't be a rapist" BECAUSE OF THE WHOLE MONSTER/SUBHUMAN/SCUM/EVIL IDEA.

Yes, I'm saying people like the thread OP are contributing to rape culture. It's true. Stop trying to help, you are bad at it.
