I have good luck at my co-op, but if you don't have one that you can join, what about getting a dehydrator and drying your own? There are models out there that cost the earth, but also some for about $40--considering that you'll be saving money over the long term by only buying and drying the fruit you like, $39 doesn't seem too bad. That would also allow you to avoid the large amounts of added oil and sugar that you often get with banana chips and dried pineapple.

oh, and by the way, I love dried apricots and like to cut them up and put them in my oatmeal.

Are they still tasty? You can buy pretty affordable ones on amazon.

I'm not sure, since I've never tried one, but I'd imagine magazines like Mother Earth News and Organic Gardening would have ratings; apparently, some of them have the drawback that the contents don't dry evenly.
