It totally depends on what fandom they're in. If you're 28 and your main fandom is Game of Thrones, whatever. If you're 28 and your main fandom is Hannah Montana you might be a little old for that bro

This exactly. If you're in your mid-20s, you might feel old if you hang out on Tumblr for example, particularly the mainstream TV show fandoms. If you're in your mid-20s and hanging out in LJ/DW, then you probably wouldn't.

Saying that thinking of yourself as old for being that age is egotistical is a bit much though imo. It's more of a joke than a brag.

Yeah. When people say "I'm so old" it means "I'm so old relative to the other people who are into this thing" not "I am an ancient and majestic wizard" or whatever
