I agree, but I also think there's some stigma related to age in fandom. If you cross certain age then you're "old" and "don't belong in fandom". This of course is said by younger peeps. There was recently some wank related to this same thing on tumblr, let me dig up the link...

Ugh.

The sheer entitlement in that reminds me of the rage an artist I know incited a while back when they asked anyone underage to stop following their NSFW art blog. A bunch of minors decided that they were tramping all over their rights to receive sex.ed via Tumblr porn (that was literally their argument: "where else will we learn about sex if not from NSFW fanart?"), not giving a shit that if anyone SAW them looking at that porn, it'd be the artist getting a chat from the cops, not them.
