I feel old in fandom even though I'm only like... 26... for a few reasons.

I've been in online fandom since the days of fanfiction on Geocities sites (yeah, I know there's some people who were on irc or whatever before that, but bear with me) and every time fandom takes a shift to a new platform it feels like a new generation is popping up. Fanfiction.net, then LJ and the LJ clones, then AO3 and Tumblr... I feel old because each time the platform moves I'm less eager about it and more inclined to want to stick to the old platform, thus why I'm here on LJ because I hate 'those younguns on Tumblr.'

I feel old because I realized the anime I grew up on is stuff most young fans these days have never heard about. and I find myself saying things like "anime these days isn't as good as it used to be." I don't feel old in real life, but within the fandom culture.... nghhh.

Maybe it's less "I feel old" and more "I've been in fandom for too damn long." I mean, I don't even remember how many years I've been checking F!S regularly. I do know that I started the first year it was up on LJ. I remember back when half the secrets were things like "I'd hit that!" and posts were 50 secrets long. And after years and years I still check it almost every day. I mean, something has to be wrong with me to keep up with this. >_>;;
