There are plenty of older fandomers who are complete and utter asshats, but they don't look at you like you're an alien or some pathetic loser to be pitied if you're older than the typical college age. Which can honestly be incredibly exhausting, and I can't blame OP for wanting to avoid it.

I'd imagine they have more criteria than just age anyway. It's not like "over 35" is really a narrow pool.
