It really depends on the fandom. But I've always felt old before my age. I hung out with adults even when I was a kid, which seemed to have seeped into fandom.

I became involved with fandom back during the age of mailing lists and message boards, having to lie about my age to read NC-17 fanfic, not realising that I could get people in trouble.
