I'm not disagreeing with you, but I feel like fandom also just doesn't care about Carol Marcus enough as a character. Hardly see anything in fandom about her, either positive or negative.

This. She was boring. Plus, she wasn't in a canon-rewriting relationship with one of the leads. A woman in a relationship with Kirk or Spock will inevitably be torn to shreds. I'm sure there are racist elements to some of that shredding, but it's not *motivated* by racism. You think the slashers would behave any differently if Spock were with Carol Marcus?

What no one seems to mention here (and I think that maybe this is what OP is talking about) is that Carol, while less developed than Uhura, IS defended by the same people who hate Uhura. I read people saying that Carol was a better female character, hell even an editorial over trekmovie said that (granted the k/s fangirl who wrote it got a lot of backlash in the comments section even from the fanboys.. And when you have fanboys telling you that you are sexist and biased against uhura that says everything..)
Some people are fast to defend Carol as not just the girl in underwear yet, they minimize everything Uhura did as her just being the girl who kissed Spock.
