Re: Informal poll: hanging up on telemarketers
(Anonymous) 2015-01-30 12:35 am (UTC)(link)Anyways, just hanging up without saying anything when we call you will just mean that you get called up again, as either the computer who does the actual calling (we interviewers don't dial manually) will automatically register that you didn't pick up, or we as interviewers will register that we didn't actually speak to you. Either way, your number is not registered as "declined" so we'll try to get in touch with you again.
So, with us at least, it's much better to say "No thank you, not interested" then hang up, and you'll be out of our system (for that survey at least, number gets randomly picked out). I don't know if this works with other companies though, but I have never gotten called up again when doing that myself.
