You make their jobs so much easier by just hanging up the second they start into that script because time is money and the amount of calls you can make in a day increases the probability that someone is actually looking for that subscription or business deal they're offering.

It's not a fun job in the first place, and it's really for everyone's benefit if you just say "not interested" and put the phone down.
