Re: Informal poll: hanging up on telemarketers

I'm terrible at answering the phone, but if I do and it's a telemarketer it all depends on what they're selling.

If it's someone I've had business with (I got a free three months of Sirius XM when I bought my new car last year so they called when it was about to expire) I'll hear them out because it could be something I'm interested in.

If it's a survey and it's something relevant (my area's hydro provider called me today) I don't mind doing the survey provided I'm not busy.

If it's someone random and I have no interest, I'll wait until they've explained who they are and then just thank them for their time but tell them I'm not interested. I've never asked someone to put me on a do not call list because I've never actually had a company call a second time after I tell them I'm not interested.

It's not the most liked job, but it doesn't hurt me to be polite to someone who's just making a living provided they're not being rude to me.
