I never understand this criticism.

If half the population suddenly keeled over dead, no matter which half it was - whether it was all the men, all the women, or a combination of the two - it would be devastating. Things would be awful for at least a little while.

I feel like people treat it as if it's not a big deal because "but women are capable of doing things." Yes, women are as capable as men, but it's not about capability, it's about a catastrophic, apocalyptic event. 49% of the world dying all at once is a bit more than just a bad day.
