I want to talk about Criminal Minds, but feel free to add your own TV developments and discuss...

What did you think about them finally killing off Gideon? I thought they cast the young version of him really well. I liked him and Rossi finally having an interaction (even if it was in the past) and I liked all the shout-outs they did to the two of them.

And in other news, they cast Gary Sinise as the lead in the new Criminal Minds spin-off. I wasn't too sure about the spin-off but I like Gary. We'll see if he's sufficiently different from his CSI part but even if it's roughly the same character, that could work. What do you guys think?

I like Gary Sinise a lot and he's the reason that I stuck with CSI NY for as long as I did (well, him and Danny. that guy was hot) but I just don't think I can become invested in another Criminal Minds show.

That seems to be the general consensus among the CM fans I've talked to. They all thought it was a terrible idea when they heard about it. Now, there's some wary optimism but still a general "WTF you doing CBS" going on.

(I liked Danny too, but Adam was my favorite!)

I'm glad we got a conclusion go Gideon, and I felt like it was a pretty good story.

Hope this spin-off is better than the last one, and I hope that it doesn't lead to cost cutting on the mother show the way the other one did. But I like Gary too.

I hope that too. You'd think they would've learned their lesson but with CBS, who knows?

I was actually starting to like the last spin-off by the end. It had a shaky start but I felt it was starting to find its groove by the end. I think if it had had another season, it would've been a solid show. Though, I do see why it got cancelled.

Honestly, I only watched the first two episodes of the other spin-off. And considering that its cancellation brought back JJ and also Emily for a little while, I'd rather have them than the show even if it did start to get good.

The sad thing is that there's no reason they should be connected at all. I'm not sure that JJ and Emily coming back were actually related to CM SB's cancellation (I know them leaving was). If that's the case, that's rather infuriating. The show shouldn't really have had anything to do with its mother ship's financing.

He was focused on during the episode; it was clearly hard on him but there wasn't mention of relapse or anything like that. Reid cried in the morgue and Morgan was supportive. There was a nice talk between Reid and Rossi where Reid said he took comfort from knowing Gideon was out there somewhere and he expected he would see him again someday. Now, he felt empty. Rossi said he'd maybe find something to fill that emptiness but Reid said he didn't want it filled.

It was pretty touching. They definitely remembered Reid and Gideon's bond.

Haven't seen the ep yet (my cm watching is sporadic these days), but I am surprised they did it. But yeah, it's long overdue.

It did feel very out-of-the-blue, didn't it?

I liked that we got to meet his son finally.

I thought the episode was emotionally satisfying and I loved the flashbacks to younger Gideon and Rossi.

I didn't even know they were attempting another spin-off but I loved Sinise on CSI so I might give it a chance.

I loved the young Gideon and Rossi stuff too. I wouldn't mind seeing more of that in the future sometime.

From what I've heard (and I haven't been paying too close attention), the spin-off will feature FBI agents who have to solve cases outside of the U.S. I think that's a good way to go. I never really got how the "Red Cell" from the first spin-off was supposed to be different from the main CM group of profilers. The new one at least sounds like it'll have its own focus.

By the time I am reading replies to this comment, I will have seen 2.3. I just want somebody to talk to about it!

Any thoughts on what happened?

I figured the something was wrong with Irving, but the lack of reflection has me thinking his soul is missing? Vampire? Something not entirely alive, at least not the way he came into this world? I also have the lingering feeling the Katrina is up to something, will/is using Irving. To her credit, it's not because she's evil, it's because she wants so badly to recuperate that relationship with her son, she will jeopardize the mission.

Hawley will probably be gone, which makes me sad, because I like him. Although, I have to admit, I'm kind of surprised by Jenny. After he displayed jealousy some time ago (which he admitted he had no right doing), AND was digging her sister, I would have thought she would have dropped him. Guess not? I like Jenny very much, so... I'm sad because Hawley was her romantic interest. And he's a pretty good guy. Side note: his former care taker was giving me the creep vibes--in that you are now old enough to fool around with--kind of way. Had she been grooming him? Eh. I don't want to know.

Finally, Abbie will again make use of Orion (I feel it!) but I'm glad Crane and her were finally communicating! And airing things out. I think it was a good move for the plot to have them have these spats/secrets. Not too many though.

Also, "Oh, Lieutenant! You learned my shanty?!" is the best line thus far.
