Yosuke was at least 80% for sure supposed to be going through a gay panic for the MC. There's audio files and game mechanics left in the game code that suggest he was going to be a romantic option. There was a gay romance in Persona 2 (I think it was? too lazy to check) that did a similar thing, so there would have been precedence.

This fact makes my hear shrivel up and die. Every time. Because I really think his character was written with him fighting a crush on the MC-- like, this is one of those characters that even people who don't ship it are like, "what's up with Yosuke?", and making him a romantic option would have made so much sense.

I miss it too. Sadly a huge portion of fandom drama these days involves either underage people which was never allowed, or topics which are decidedly unfunny and therefore not allowed (though that second one is a bit of a moot point, as even the serious-topics wank comm is also dead) :(

I'm sort of in the same boat, OP, in that in the end, I pretty much have a 100% cheerless, dark world outlook. If children were an option for me (i.e. if I weren't aro-ace and if I liked children), I'd probably choose not to have any for the same reason you do. You aren't alone in this, though it is a view that is often, I find, met with hostility.

Still, I think it is very important to recognize that the majority of people seem to genuinely enjoy being alive and that, given a choice, they'd choose to have been born over not having been born. People who share your (and my) sentiment tend to get caught in their own perceptions of reality. You can't really say life is a cruel thing to inflict on a sentient being when many sentient beings are quite happily alive.

Also, I find it a bit odd that to you, the worst thing about life seems to be death. Could it be that you're simply suffering from a very acute fear of death/consequences of the trauma inflicted upon you when someone close to you died? Because death sounds like one of the most harmless things there are to me.

If you do feel like you have a problem with death specifically, rather than with any other negative aspect of life, I'd recommend trying therapy. Also, one of the best books I've ever read on the subject is 'Staring At the Sun' by Irvin Yalom. A magnificent exploration of what it means to be afraid of death.

Text: not secret: I found Vriska's "resolution" here sad and annoying, the first time I read this.

Secret: Upon rereading, I can see where she's coming from. What else was she supposed to do? Stay put and wait for her permadeath along the others? At least this way she might give everyone a fighting chance at defeating LE.

That said, I bet that even in a better world she'd have found some other BS excuse to not change. All the Vriskas in my life did. :(

Secret, because apparently you can't like and sympathize with this type of character while still acknowledging they're messed-up.

Er. I'd hardly say the kids were painted as bad guys, just rough on the toys. Which is true.

Also, first movie? Sid? It's established pretty much immediately that it's important to be loved AND TAKEN CARE OF by kids. Not just played with however the kid wants.

The third movie was consistent.

I don't think they're dating, but my initial reaction was definitely, "Oh, Richard is friends with Lee who's friends with Bryan, that's probably how that happened." (TBH, I was kind of hoping Lee would play Dolarhyde, but Richard will be great too!)

That was NOT the original backstory. That was the retconned in backstory. Specifically put in to explain why a guy who probably had a literal harem and a lot of other not-very-serious commitments suddenly dropped all of that: for his one tru wuv from childhood!

Actually, having seen the stage version way back a long time ago, magic tears is legit.

I still can't believe that of all the mega attractive characters in DA:I, the guy who looks like he was made in the Oblivion character creator is the one with legions of screaming fangirls.
