I've said it once, I'll say it again-Tumblr is the worst thing to ever happen to fandom. Not surprised at all that they're too up their own asses with their SJW bullshit to understand that you can not like what someone is saying and still support freedom of speech/find their deaths a crime.

Take a chill pill dude

That's actually what tumblr needs to do. I remember when fandom used to be a place to have fun. Now it's like a cult where you have to constantly feel terrible about everything, well, unless you're POC trans and Homosexual. Then you're without reproach.

DA

So much this. Tumblr has basically made it so that having fun with fandom is something to be looked down upon.

I left Tumblr when the avenue I used to escape RL shit actually managed to turn into an even shittier place itself. Of course I couldn't say I was leaving, because if you prioritize your own mental well-being above Terrible Things Happening In The World That Are All Your Fault (somehow) That You Can Magically Absolve Yourself Of By Reblogging A Gifset (yay!), then you're a heartless evil person who doesn't give a fuck about anyone but yourself.

constantly feel terrible about everything, well, unless you're POC trans and Homosexual.

You kidding me? According to the tumblr SJWs, if you're a homosexual, you need to check your monosexual privilege. Trans? DMAB, I should hope. DFABs are privileged and need to STFU.

...and that's the batshittery that passes for social justice in that garbage dump.

And it's the *only* space around where POC/trans/LGBTQIA etc. have to be "without reproach". Or maybe just something resembling "safe". You can't just let them have that, can you?

Where CERTAIN POC/trans/LGBTQIA etc. that fit whatever criteria for acceptability and non-privileged Tumblr's decided on for that week. If you're not, then it's not safe. In fact, you're open to even more attacks than the white cishets because you're now betraying the cause and being a BAD representation.

If you think Tumblr's a safe space for anyone then you're a fucking idiot.

Tumblr is just a site. It's not responsible for any of fandom's behavior. If the pendulum has swung this way when LJ and clones was still popular, people would be talking about how LJ was the bane to fandom. It was already swinging this way when LJ-like formats were still heavily in use.

Tumblr is just a site. It's not responsible for any of fandom's behavior.

That's not actually true. The way tumblr is set up does encourage nasty behavior. There's almost no accountability on it--with LJ, comms could set their own rules, and while mods were sometimes shitty, you had to play by certain rules to participate in the fandom comms, and blatant trolls and bullies could be kept out. On Tumblr, there's no checks and balances.

There are no mods, and only tumblr staff to complain to--and Tumblr staff usually tells you to rely on their really shitty blocking system for almost all problems.

LJ-fandom had its problems, but Tumblr fandom is worse for a reason--the way Tumblr is set up, its rules and interface, make it more susceptible to abusive and bullying behavior, and nastiness.

All of this AND it's impossible to correct popular text posts. For example, there is one going around about a little girl being a abused by boys at her elementary school. It uses a pic of a girl with scars on her face. It actually is a girl that got attacked by an animal (either shark or alligator, I don't remember), that comes up in google search etc.
I've seen many people point it out over time but most people just don't see the corrections and it gets reblogged and reblogged with new outraged comments.
