I don't think you've actually read this thread at all. People have every right to criticize a site where several users claimed people deserved to die because they worked for a controversial magazine. You can't just hand wave that away because some ITT had the "audacity" to use buzzwords.

I never really saw any posts saying that though. I mean I'm sure there were, just that the majority of them were kind of pointing out that you could support the idea of free speech without agreeing with said speech.

However, I did see tons of facebook posts about "SJW scum supporting towelheads over FREEDOM and if you weren't with Charlie you should die."

Meanwhile, this entire thread was started by an anon who was upset about Tumblr basically pissing all over victims and claiming they deserved it for being racist. And then complaining about other tragedies not getting as much attention, as though it's a contest. Did you miss that part?

I unfriended them ASAP because... yeah. I don't tolerate that kind of stuff. Might be able to find the posts again if they were public.

I follow some people who also repost a lot of SJ stuff. I'm not really into it, but http://paper-bird.net/2015/01/09/why-i-am-not-charlie/ was the most commonly posted article I saw. And it doesn't do either of those things.

I also saw some things discussing why people give more importance to one tragedy than another, or why people explain/justify an act of violence to demonize or excuse the person who does it, like how mental illness is nearly always the current go-to speculation for young white males who commit a violent act, but rarely comes up for others.

They're all topics that I feel are important, and can be discussed without playing Tragedy Olympics, but I see how people can get frustrated at them.
