It blows me away that killing someone with a car is considered less serious than killing someone with some other kind of weapon. It makes no sense.

Hah, you're lucky that anarchists run events where you live. I'm used to anarchists just talking about running events, and then arguing because no one can come to consensus.

HA! It's funny because it's so true.

Yeah, I tend to be one of those people who just kinda schmooze into events at random. I've been pretty lucky and found folks who actually did things without too much trouble. (It helps that I have an interest in DIY comics and zines, so tend to quickly arrow in on zine libraries, which tend to be little nexuses of activity.)

There was one group in my other city that actually had free dinners and educational lectures on random things. Once, they had a puppet show; another time, it was about a certain old hippie neighborhood project; another time, it was band performances. It was a lot of fun and a good way to spend a summer night!

I wish people would do more puppets. All the anarchists in my city are snarky about giant puppets. I love me some street theatre.

Yeah, there was Bread and Circus Puppets Theatre or something, it was pretty cool.

It wasn't anarchist, but one of the events I loved most was the big street marching band festival. A bunch of political street marching bands would invade the streets, playing the Star Wars cantina song and We Will Overcome, and it was like the funnest acid trip ever. (It helped that there would be people in gorilla costumes on stilts and people wearing chicken hats.)

Oooh, is this the one in Vermont? If it is, I went to their theatre/museum once and it was one of the most wonderful places I've ever been.

Nah, Boston. It was called Honk! and it tended to take place right in my neighborhood at the time. I loved grabbing my sketchbook, drawing all the colorful characters that'd come out.

I really miss being able to easily get to events like that.
